My Story

A little insight into the production of your M.D. Original... All items are sewn with ever lovin' care & attention on my most prized possession, my Bernina 180. This machine has hundreds of decorative stitches which I avidly use to assure the uniqueness of each garment. The 180 also has an embroidery unit which further allows me to personalize garments with names, lyrics & designs such as (but not limited to) text, faeries, butterflies, animals, & geisha's. These clothes are made to be worn hard, danced in, camped in, lived in so each stitch is treated as necessary. But ALL seams are stitched on the Bernina AND surged on a Singer 4 thread Ultra Lock machine, NO EXCEPTIONS, and when need be, top stitched. Rest assured you will receive the up-most in quality & craftswomanship.
Melody Dawn Designs came to life in 1996 when it was painfully obvious that it was either learn how to sew or I'd be wearing Grandpa's fuzzy green sweater until the arms fell off. Nearly completely self taught, I have honed my skills over the years through school & by sheer necessity to keep up with customer demands & my evolving sense of personal style. I must admit that I am drawn to the freedom that this passion allows me. What began with fifty, or so, articles crammed into trash bags then into the trunk of a car and driven all around the country to be hung on rickety racks in concert parking lots has blossomed over the last 10 years into a flourishing festival/ word of mouth/ repeat customer/ and now Internet business. I promise to provide you with a unique article of clothing that you will cherish for years to come. Thank you for taking interest in my wares. Much Love & Respect, *MelodyDawn*
